Community & Safety Rules

LobbyRoom is a place to talk about film and television, express your taste and find people who share your interests.

Disagreement, criticism and debate are part of that. Harassment, exploitation and behaviour that puts other people at risk aren't.

These rules apply across LobbyRoom, including Posts, Reviews, Discussions, replies, profiles, collections, images, polls and private or group messages.

1. Treat people like people

Don't harass, bully, intimidate or repeatedly target another person. Don't encourage other users to pile onto someone, and don't make credible threats of violence.

Criticising someone's opinion, review or favourite film is fine. Targeted abuse of the person isn't.

2. No hate or hateful abuse

Don't attack, threaten or promote hatred against people based on characteristics such as race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Discussion of racism, discrimination or hateful material appearing in a film or television programme is not automatically a violation.

3. Protect children

Do not sexually exploit, sexualise, groom or behave predatively towards anyone under 18. Do not share, request, solicit or encourage sexual or abusive material involving children.

4. Don't encourage suicide, self-harm or eating disorders

Don't encourage, promote or provide instructions for suicide, self-harm or eating-disorder behaviours.

People can discuss these subjects in the context of films or television, or talk supportively about difficult experiences. The rule is aimed at harmful encouragement or instruction, not legitimate conversation.

5. No pornography or sexual exploitation

Don't post pornography or use LobbyRoom to solicit sexual services.

Never share intimate or sexually explicit material of another person without their consent.

Discussion of sex, sexuality or nudity in films and television is not automatically prohibited.

LobbyRoom is not intended to be an adult-content platform.

6. Don't share seriously graphic real-world content

Don't use LobbyRoom to share extremely graphic real-world violence or injury for shock value or glorification.

Discussion or imagery from films and television may be treated differently where appropriate.

7. Respect people's privacy

Don't publish someone's private or confidential information without permission, threaten to expose them, or share non-consensual intimate imagery.

8. Be genuine

Pseudonyms are allowed. Users do not have to use their real names.

However, don't deceptively impersonate another person or organisation, scam people, spam the service or deliberately mislead people about who you are for harmful purposes.

9. Don't use LobbyRoom for illegal activity

Don't use LobbyRoom to facilitate, solicit or promote illegal activity or illegal transactions.

10. Don't misuse LobbyRoom

Don't deliberately interfere with LobbyRoom's operation, evade account restrictions, manipulate engagement, or use the service in ways intended to harm LobbyRoom or its users.

How we enforce these rules

We consider the context, seriousness and circumstances of potential violations. Depending on the situation, LobbyRoom may take no action or take proportionate action under our Terms, including removing or restricting content, warning or restricting an account, temporarily suspending access, or permanently removing an account.

Serious conduct may result in immediate action. We do not use a fixed “three strikes” rule.

Where practical, we may explain moderation action taken against your content or account. If you believe we have made a mistake, you can contact us at hello@lobbyroom.app.

These rules work alongside our Terms of Use. Copyright and intellectual-property complaints have a separate process.
